Aileach View Hancock steals the show!!

The Belgian Beltex Breeders Society of Ireland Premier Sale was held in Tullamore Mart on

Friday the 19th of August with a continued strong demand for Beltex Rams and Ewes . This

was evident with sales topping 2850 euro for Aileach View Hancock ,Champion Ram Lamb

and Overall Champion from the Aileach View flock of Jack O’Brien, Burnfoot, Co. Donegal.

Selling to the Maher family Ballinakill flock. It was a very memorable day for the Aileach

View flock as their ewe lamb Aileach View Heebeejeebees ET , was awarded the Champion

Female and Reserve Champion on the day also. Selling to Aeron James’Seaview flock in

County Waterford.

The Premier Sale is the Society’s second sale of the year and timed for both pedigree and

commercial farmers to prepare themselves for the upcoming breeding season. It was no

surprise from early on Friday afternoon that both sale averages and clearance rates would

be high as a fantastic standard of sheep was put forward in all classes.

Judge on the day was Wade McCrabbe from the esteemed Ardstewart Flock , County

Donegal and he did a stellar job. Wade had a very difficult task as large numbers of sheep

were presented forward in all six classes. The high standard of sheep was remarked upon

throughout the show ring.

Champion Shearling Ram and Reserve Male Quarrymount Game Changer sold to Sean

Brown , Co Offaly for 2000 euro, with Champion Shearling Ewe Ballinakill Gwenevere

heading to the same home for 1620 euro.

Other prices of interest included lot 71 Cloney Cavan Hawkwing selling to John O’Connell ,

Co. Westmeath for 1000 euro. Lot 74 Aileach View Hugo selling for 1000 euro to Aron

James, Co. Waterford. Eddie and Jillian McCarthy sold lot 65 Awbey Hup and Over to David

Pearson, Co. Laois for 820 euro.
